Raleigh Chiropractors Alleviate Frozen Shoulder Pain Quickly

By Andre Ferlo

A shoulder pain that seems to appear suddenly may be a frozen shoulder. Dull aching in the outer part of the arm, and stiffness in the shoulder joint are also present. This problem is caused by inflammation of tendons, which surround the shoulder joint and requires the attention of a Raleigh chiropractor.

When visiting a chiropractor it will be explained that when there is shrinkage, thickening, and scarring of a joint capsule it is known as a frozen shoulder. They will quickly be able to make the diagnosis, and sometimes aggressive steps are necessary to bring relief.

Any injury in the shoulder area can lead to a frozen shoulder. This type of physical problem is often found in patients with bursitis, tendinitis, diabetes, rotator cuff damage, or chronic inflammatory arthritis of that area. A shoulder that is kept inactive for a long period (such as in a cast) can also become 'frozen'.

A frozen shoulder condition affects approximately 2 to 3 percent of the population and is often found in women between 40 and 60 years of age. If the condition is discovered, when it is just beginning the recovery time is much shorter. When a chiropractor who works in this area is consulted, at the beginning of the pain, the recovery time is much shorter. When consultation is delayed, recovery may be delayed as long as two years.

The chiropractor will use neurological and muscle testing on the injured area. An agreeable option will focus on the reason for the problem, not just the symptoms. The doctor will take a two-fold approach to the problem.

Prevention measures are the first steps taken. This will address any lifestyle issues, such as regular exercise and a healthy diet. To relieve the pain a number of techniques comes next, such as an electrical stimulator, shoulder manipulation, and others. A Raleigh chiropractor works to offset the pain and return the shoulder to its normal condition.
