Today Peabody, MA Shoulder Pain Relief For Women Is Closer Than You Think

By Cody Gardella

Many things that a person does can create shoulder pain over time. Women are especially susceptible to shoulder pain due to the increased weight of a purse that they carry. The Peabody chiropractor who is working with patients to resolve these problems suggests switching sides or using a cross body strap to more evenly distribute the weight.

The most common cause of pain located in the women's shoulder is the fact that they carry their purse on the same shoulder. The additional weight of the shoulder strap pulls down on the shoulder and causes the spine to move out of alignment resulting in pain.

The weight of the purse pulling on your shoulder when you carry it may not seem like a lot while you are carrying it, but over time it can result in pulling your shoulder down slightly and causing a misalignment of the spine.

Women tend to carry things on one side of their body. For example, a right-handed woman is normally more comfortable carrying her purse on her right shoulder. Not only is this due to the added strength of that side, but it is more easily reached when something is needed. In addition this action can cause a twisting motion that also may increase the misalignment.

Carrying children and groceries also do not help this misalignment of ones shoulders. In order to help relieve the pain, it is recommended that a lady carry her purse on a different side each day to help keep the shoulders level. However, many women find they are more comfortable with their purse on one side or the other.

Visiting a Peabody chiropractor can help you to get relief from the shoulder pain you might be feeling. By adjusting your spine to put your shoulders back into alignment and correcting any other alignment issues, you will find that you feel much better as well as having relieved the shoulder pain.
